Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW), Estyn, Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) and the Wales Audit Office (WAO) have launched a joint paper on inspection, audit and regulation. The paper, Developing Our Work Together in a Climate of Change, outlines how the four organisations are making progress, moving forward and delivering improvements.

The Wales Audit Office and Healthcare Inspectorate Wales have a close working relationship and a history of positive collaborative working. To help embed and further develop these arrangements we have published a joint operational protocol.

Our intention is that the protocol will provide further impetus to the joint and collaborative working that already exists between our organisations at an operational level. In particular we believe that it will give us a clearer framework for taking forward work on information sharing, co-ordination of programme development and cross referral of concerns. We believe that strengthening these elements of our collaborative working will help us ensure our collective external review resources and activities are used to best effect to help support improvement in the NHS.
