Proposed Joint National Inspections, Reviews or Collaboration

The Heads of Inspectorates have agreed that they will work together on a wide range of tasks in 2012-13. This work may include, but will not be confined to, the development of a number of major national or thematic inspections or reviews. Topics agreed are outlined below. Preparation of the programme for 2013-14 will begin in October 2012.

 

1.

Outcomes for children – rising LAC and issues arising from children in need census. Issues for schools in tackling disadvantage and poverty, including support for young carers

2.

Young people not in education, employment or training – NEETs

WAO; CSSIW; Estyn; HIW

3.

Review of commissioning for social care services

CSSIW; HIW; WAO

4.

Use of supply teachers in schools

5.

Community Mental Health Services: Community Treatment Orders

HIW; CSSIW

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services

The joint inspectorates will also be working together on a range of other evaluative activities; including work between WAO, Estyn and CSSIW in local authorities under the Local Government Measure; between WAO and HIW in relation to the National Health Service in Wales; between WAO, CSSIW and HIW in transport for Health and Social Care and between CSSIW and HIW to monitor the Mental Capacity Act Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
