Our work together
CSSIW
Estyn
HIW
WAO
Joint and collaborative working between CSSIW, Estyn, HIW and the WAO has, in various forms, been going on for a number of years. The inspection, audit and review (IAR) bodies have always responded positively to opportunities to work together where it has been more efficient and effective to do so, for instance, in the Joint Reviews of Social Services that, until 2009, were carried out by CSSIW and the WAO.
Collaborative working has been stimulated and facilitated by frameworks such as the Wales Programme for Improvement and by voluntary initiatives such as the Concordat for Health and Social Care in Wales. Most recently the Local Government (Wales) Measure 2009 and the introduction of revised Standards for Health Services have provided a further stimulus for the main IAR bodies to review their joint working practices and identify the areas where changes are needed.
Governed by clear principles and shared objectives, our collaboration must be visible and demonstrate the value it adds to our activities. The Strategic Agreement sets out how we will go on developing our collaborative working arrangements.
