Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) encourages the improvement of social care, early years and social services by regulating, inspecting, reviewing and providing professional advice to Ministers and policy makers. They carry out their functions on behalf of Welsh Ministers, and although they are part of the Public Services and Local Government Delivery Directorate within the Welsh Government, there are a number of safeguards in place to ensure their operational independence. CSSIW's vision and values are geared towards ensuring that service users’ experiences are at the heart of the work. They want social care to fit together so that people get the right help at the right time and also ensure clearer rules about who will get help.

"Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) has extensive experience of working collaboratively with other inspectorates and regulators in pursuit of improved outcomes for the citizens of Wales. Protecting people who are vulnerable is an absolute priority and safeguarding people from harm requires effective multi agency working at all times and we are active in, and committed to, working closely with other organisations and learning from best practice. I believe that the key to our success, both as individual inspectorates and as collaborative partners, will be our ability to ensure that a wide range of people’s views, the people who use services, are placed at the heart of our business activities and that they are involved in shaping the way that we work"
